About Tanzania

Renowned as the dwelling place of Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest freestanding mountain and Africa's highest peak, Tanzania also boasts the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Serengeti National Park. This East African nation shares borders with Kenya and Uganda to the north, Rwanda and Burundi to the northwest, the Democratic Republic of Congo to the west, and Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique to the south. Its eastern frontier extends along the captivating coastline of the Indian Ocean, revealing a vast landscape of endless savannahs, majestic mountains, and breathtaking scenery.
The capital city, Dodoma, serves as the focal point for most international flights, alongside Dar es Salaam on the east coast. Tanzania stands out for its diversity, boasting a rich history and a linguistic tapestry of over 158 languages, with Swahili and English as the predominant ones. Despite its equatorial climate, Tanzania experiences moderate conditions for the most part, featuring two primary wet seasons interspersed with extended periods of dry weather. This climatic rhythm contributes to the lush landscapes and diverse array of birds and wildlife that characterize the country.
Drawing adventure enthusiasts year-round, Mount Kilimanjaro beckons those seeking the thrill of summiting the highest peak on the continent. Situated to the north of Tanzania, near the Kenyan border, Kilimanjaro offers not only a challenging climb but also the wonders of its awe-inspiring peak. Beyond the allure of conquering Kilimanjaro, visitors to Tanzania are enticed by the opportunity to encounter the "BIG 5" in their natural habitat – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos – within the country's numerous national game parks.
With seven established routes to the summit of Kilimanjaro, trekkers can choose their path for a unique and personalized experience. While the climb itself requires no technical expertise, factors such as fitness level, available time, and desired scenery influence the choice of route. Although experienced climbers can reach the summit in as few as 5 or 6 days, caution is advised to counteract the effects of altitude sickness, a challenge that has thwarted many hurried summit attempts.
For an enriching Tanzania trekking holiday, we recommend savoring the ascent of Kilimanjaro, followed by a captivating wildlife safari. This combination allows for a deeper exploration of the country, a well-deserved recovery after the climb, and the creation of lasting memories for an unforgettable journey.
